Ms Thilakavathi Damodar is a Social Change maker from Bangalore who relentlessly works at improving the quality of education of children belonging to vulnerable communities. She started the Snehashraya Foundation in 2016 aimed at providing safe shelter, nutritious food, medical aid and quality education for under privileged children.

Thilakavathi inherits her passion for social service from her late father Mr. Damodar, himself a Social Change maker focused on the welfare of the blind. He worked in North Karnataka during the 2018 natural disasters and in Tamil Nadu during the Kaja Cyclone, where unfortunately, he contacted a health hazard, leading to his untimely death.

Five years since inception, Snehashraya has grown and currently offers shelter to 30 children, as well as providing them education in nearby schools. Currently, the children are provided with three full meals daily, education via online / offline classes (adhering to COVID-19 protocol) as well as medical assistance. Thilakavathi believes education enables informed decisions and also leads to eradication of child labor and poverty.

The foundation also conducts annual workshops and awareness campaigns aiming at diminishing poverty and social injustice and has provided assistance in Kerala, Tamil Nadu etc, with assistance from corporates, individuals and organizations like Galax E Solutions and Global Foundries.

Tilakavathi and her team believe they are capable of supporting 150 children and are looking at   long term partnerships from like-minded corporates and businesses. Assistance like nutritious food, raw materials for living, shelter, daily needs and resources for quality education and all that can make a difference to the goals and achievements of the children are welcomed.  Going forward, the foundation hopes to extend support to children till their graduation / employment, enabling them to sustain their families.

SYNE works with Snehashraya to help ensure their goals are met, supporting them to provide Quality Education through Digital Classroom and Skill Development initiatives. SYNE also works on projects of Snehashraya that provide holistic care for vulnerable children in Bangalore.
